Death by Taxi

021111

Getting run over by a speeding taxi seems to be like a painful death, however you can also experience the same now while looking at the taxi meter as you see your money speed past you by.

We all know that taxi fares have come up. The original PHP30 flagdown + PHP2.50 per kilometer was already painful enough but the PHP40 flagdown +PHP3 per kilometer is absolutely worse than a root canal. And trust me, i know because I've experienced both.

My usual cab fare of PHP 130 + tip has now gone up to PHP 180. One taxicab fare is enough for 1 Venti Caramel Macchiato or a single screening of a movie of choice or a magazine of choice. Trust me, a PHP50 difference counts a lot especially if you weren't born with a silver spoon.

I have no option but to take a cab because as much as I love walking, attempting to walk from Fort Bonifacio Taguig to Timog Quezon City at two in the morning is either suicidal or a death wish.

This I ask, will we? the citizens of this country endure such travails of price increases while some of us don't even experience pay raises? Will the government do anything to assist the commuters in their plight to work, provide for their families, get to work to and fro safely and survive? Is it fair to all parties concerned? Maybe the price increase is a ploy to brainwash everyone to stop taking cabs and protect the environment from emissions from motor vehicles. Maybe bicycle companies are behind this to increase their sales. And if you've read until this part, this is me writing in jibberish because I'm already hungry... because my cab fare took my PHP50 which I was supposed to use to buy me a sandwich!
